Holy#1 Batmobile!You Sold For $4,200,000.00 At Barrett-Jackson!

              Holy#1 Batmobile!You Sold For

             $4,200,000.00 At Barrett-Jackson!

             There were fifteen people crowded
       around the #1 Batmobile.Here Barris
talks about the car being a star, and the
       crowd was screaming.This evening the
cars that had reserves, did not make the
       money they wanted,including three of
the rare concept cars: from the Salon
       Collection:The Packard Panther with
       a super charger,The Diablo,and the
       rare double proto-type Shelby called:
       Green Hornet,a Shelby Mustang.
You could see,a sea of people that
were flooding around the back of The
Batmobile, you just had to see it.It so
bad, you could hardly see what was
       going on from the stage.
When they announced The #1 car
of Batman the television series The
       Batmobile,the crowd was screaming.
Then they had the theme from Batman
       played.The crowd went wild again.Then
they annouced George Barris,he told us
how he made The Batmobile a star. They
told George Barris, that he needed to rest.
He was so enthusiastic, that had him stop
talking,so the auctioneer could start the
       bidding.
The auction started, and it was like you
could not stop people from bidding.
They started with thousands of dollars and
just went through those millions, like your
       favorite candy.
Now I want you to reflect on what was
happening, and what was going through the
peoples minds. Here was the famous car,
from the hit show Batman. For the first time
George Barris had the #1 Batmobile up for
auction, and The Batmobile was it's own star.
There was so much excitement, that the fine
       audience could not contain themselves.The
car was so beautiful in black pearl, and the
       proper orange graphics stripping,originally
designed by Herb Grasse. Also for the first
time, since about 1970's,it has the correct
mags.It had Radir One Ribbed Mags.It also
was wearing it's Bat knock offs.
It was amazing,as to level of screaming,
and the excitement it brought. This would
happened until after the gaven went down,
and the price of the auctioneer, said:" Sold
for:$4,200,000.00." We were all happy the
car went for this large amount of money,
since The Barris family could use this cash.
Then this was a family friend to George. How
many times, did his late wife Shirley Barris
get to drive this car, along with his late brother,
Sam Barris pioneers in chopping tops, helping
with George Barris first auto body shop. Also
his nephew John Barris, who learn how to chop
a top, along with body work, from both his father
Sam Barris, and his uncle George Barris. When
the bidding got to about $2,000,000.00 George
said,he would take the reserve off,and he would
stop the auction, and give him his jacket. This had
Greenway Production special Batman logos from
       the TV show Batman.
           The numbers kept rolling:$2,100,000.00,
       $2,200,000.00,$2,300,000.00,$2,400,000.00,
       $2,500,000.00,$2,600,000.00,$2,700,000.00,
       $2,800,000.00,$2,900,000.00,$3,000,000.00,
       $3,100,000.00,$3,200,000.00,$3,300,000.00,
       $3,400,000.00,$3,500,000.00.$3,600,000.00,
       $3,700,000.00,$3,800,000.00,$3,900,000.00,
       $4,000,000.00,$4,100,000.00.The auctioneer
said:"last call."Rick Champagne, and his buddy
must have done a quick coin toss,as there was
was only one more bid.The auctioneer said this:
" $4,200,000.00",and the gavel went down
" Sold!" They still had screaming after the gavel
       went down.It was a thrill,to see this happen,and
the expressions on the Barris family was cool.
Rick Champagne knew he was going to win
       #1 Batmobile.He did a coin toss,with his buddy.
The one that wins the coin toss buys The car.
       Were talking $4,200,000.00.His girlfriend also
wanted the car.He was asked what he would do
the #1 Batmobile. He said: "park it in his living room."
Rick Champagne is a businessman who has been
going to Barrett-Jackson for twenty years.Rick had
always wanted the #1 Batmobile. He got in the car
with his pretty long blond girlfrind. What a cool
       story.
              Many Duesenbergs,Clark Gable's 1955 Mercedes
300 SL Gull Wing  reserve was not met,and after
owner settled he only recieved $1,850,000.00.
This a record of at least seven reserves, not making
the amount the owners wanted. Therefore most had to
accept the bids, instead of going home with the cars they
       auctioned.
This was a record breaking  attendance with a total
       sales of $108,000,000.00 for Barrett-Jackson.
